Summary: exam takes about an hour, learn everything from the mechanics part; in regards to the biological part - cartilage should be the least likely thing he'll ask. Thurner is very fair and will help you out if you get stuck but he'll expect that you know your stuff. He'll basically kill you with kindness
Started with the following:
1) Challenges in Tissue Biomechanics
2) Non-linearities: Types, Meaning
3) Deformation Gradient: What is it? Polar Decomposition
4) Strains: No need to be able to derive but understand them - Describe them, Symmetry & Rotation in regards to Cauchy Strain -> why is there no rotational component, small strain theory (linearisation)
5) Stresses: What kind in which configuration, what stress are used where, why cauchy stress is symmetric
6) Balance of energy: Pext = Pint + Kinetic Energy, Stress power (=Pint). What Pint show us -> work conjugates
6) Constitutive Laws: Energy dissipation, derive and understand the expression. hyperelasticity (path independence + no work/energy lost), components of elasticity tensor + in case of anisotropy
7) Collagen
Tendons and Ligament (Everything in regards to structure, physiology & mechanical properties aka graphs, crimp)
